Curious Pets of the Month: Sarah & Cookie

July 2, 2014 | Curious Pet of the Month, Uncategorized

Cookie and SarahMeet Sarah (left) and Cookie (right) – these cuties are always a joy to visit and definitely show their appreciation!  Cookie is one of the happiest dogs I know and she always has a big doggy smile on her face.  When she hears the word “walk” she can hardly control her wiggly butt from all of the excitement!  Sarah is a pretty kitty with a big personality – at least when it comes to meal times!  She is very friendly and enjoys the occasional petting session once her belly is full.  These girls are also aspiring pet models – they love to bask in the sun for pretty photos.  Cookie and Sarah are such fun ladies to hang out with and definitely have sunny outlooks on life!

Pet Safety for the 4th of July

July 1, 2014 | Helpful Tips

July 4 dogsThese pups may look adorable now… but come 9pm on the 4th of July, they may be in a different state of mind.  Did you know that more pets get lost on the 4th of July than any other day of the year? Please take some time to ensure your pets are safe this year.

  • Exercise your pet early in the day. If your pup is exhausted by the time fireworks start, hopefully they’ll sleep right through them!
  • Make sure they are wearing a collar with correct ID tags and contact information. If they do get lost, they should be able to be identified easily.
  • Leave fido at home. Fireworks and large crowds of people can be very scary.  Let your pup stay at home in an escape-proof space with a delicious bone instead.
  • Got a scaredy-cat or pup? Play soothing music to mask the noises outside.  I definitely recommend putting these soothing sounds on full blast to comfort your pet.
  • Keep fireworks, matches, lighter fluid and alcohol out of reach.  This may seem obvious, but when lots of people are over, things can easily get put in places accessible to pets (or small kids).  Make sure to keep an eye out for hazards.

Please keep your pets happy and safe this 4th of July!
